The BSE benchmark index Sensex fell by nearly 106 points in
early morning trade on Tuesday, 06 August on fresh selling in funds amid a weak
trend in the Asian region.
The 30-share barometer, which had gained 18.24 points yesterday
on Monday, fell 105.62 points, or 0.55%, to 19,076.24 in the first few minutes
of trading with reality, banking and consumer durable stocks leading the
decline.
Similarly, the broad-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty declined by 49.20 points, or
0.87%, to 5636.20.
Brokers said fresh selling by funds amid a weak trend on
Asian bourses mainly influenced the trading sentiments here.
In the Asian region, Hong Kong's Hang Seng index fell 0.99%,
while Japan's Nikkei was down 1.36% in early trade. The US Dow Jones Industrial
Average ended 0.30% lower in Monday's trade.
