Sensex Down by 106 points in Early Trade

The BSE benchmark index Sensex fell by nearly 106 points in early morning trade on Tuesday, 06 August on fresh selling in funds amid a weak trend in the Asian region.

The 30-share barometer, which had gained 18.24 points yesterday on Monday, fell 105.62 points, or 0.55%, to 19,076.24 in the first few minutes of trading with reality, banking and consumer durable stocks leading the decline.

Similarly, the broad-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty declined by 49.20 points, or 0.87%, to 5636.20.

Brokers said fresh selling by funds amid a weak trend on Asian bourses mainly influenced the trading sentiments here.

In the Asian region, Hong Kong's Hang Seng index fell 0.99%, while Japan's Nikkei was down 1.36% in early trade. The US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.30% lower in Monday's trade.
