The Nifty
recovered some of the day’s losses and closed above psychological 6,150 level
even as the European markets remained weak. According to technical analysts,
the market is showing signs of weakness and hence traders should be cautious
with their long positions.
The rupee held on to some of the intraday gains as the US dollar turned weak against other global currencies. The partially convertible rupee was at 61.49, up 16 paise, against its previous close of 61.65.
The 50-share index ended at 6178.35, down 24.45 points or 0.39 per cent. The index touched intraday high of 6,217.95 and a low of 6,116.60 in trade today.
The S&P BSE Sensex closed at 20767.88, down 97.09 points.
