The market closed lower for the sixth consecutive session
today. The Sensex slipped 50.40 points to 20,609.12, and the Nifty lost 15.65
points to 6,139.05 (as per provisional data).
Ranbaxy Labs, Bharti Airtel, Cipla and Sun Pharma were top
gainers, rising 2-5 percent while HDFC Bank, Coal India, HDFC, NTPC and Bajaj
Auto plunged 2-4 percent.
Among midcaps, Financial Technologies, TVS Motor, Trent,
Whirlpool and Blue Dart rallied 5-11 percent. However, Godfrey Phillip, Ruchi
Soya, J K Cement, Sobha Developer and India Cements declined 3.5-5 percent.
